Waking up to a field of cows only meters from our front door and watching the farmer distribute feed from a tractor ~

Peace ~

Quiet ~

rejuvenating ~

Bird song ~

Green and Blue ~

Anticipating future adventures ~

Sun, bare branches heavy with buds, some baring pretty pink blossom.  Crisp white snow on the ranges against pure blue sky.  Running, laughing, exploring, together - happiness.  Our Sunday walk in the sun. xx

Leaves

This is Charlie's poem about leaves.

Leaves are crunchy..

Leaves are fun..

I like throwing leaves..

Leaves can be dangerous!..

Sadie likes walking in leaves..

I like running in leaves..

Leaves have lots of colours..

Leaves are pretty..

The Vineyard

The Vineyard, it's spring, it's green.
Family together - aunts, uncles, superhero cousins.
Children sitting on grandparents knees, small gentle kisses.

Light bounces off our faces, squeezing itself between fluttering leaves.
White wine - sweet, tart, dry, wet.
Contentment.

The ducks hide, the rooster struts,
Children following close behind
with buttercups in hand.

White crisp dresses,
long faces healed quickly with
wrapping arms and soft whispers.

This was our day, today -
Sweet memories of family, love
and spring. xx

 

Lilac

 

Lilacs,
False blue,
White
Purple,
Colour of lilac,
You have forgotten your Eastern origin,
The veiled women with eyes like panthers,
The swollen, aggressive turbans of jewelled Pashas.
Now you are a very decent flower,
A reticent flower,
A curiously clear-cut, candid flower,
Standing beside clean doorways,
Friendly to a house-cat and a pair of spectacles,
Making poetry out of a bit of moonlight
And a hundred or two sharp blossoms.

Amy Lowell's best-known poem "Lilacs" was published in What's O'Clock (1925),
a collection that won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1926, after Amy's death.

My amazing two year old

When Charlie was 2 hours old, I wanted him to stay that perfect forever.

When Charlie  was 10 months old I got clucky and got pregnant with Sadie. 

When Charlie  was 13 months old, I thought it couldn't get any better than this. 

When Charlie was 19 months old he was horrid, temper tantrum city! (I now realize it was communication frustration)

Charlie is now 2 1/2 and he has hit some major milestones this week.  He has developed into an amazing child who takes delight in everything, who is aware of other peoples emotions and feelings and I just feel this incredible love for him that is so strong, sometimes it hurts!

Small Milestone #1  Communication skills I have just realized that when Charlie is pretending to talk to Aunt Jess on the phone, he really IS talking to Aunt Jess on the phone.  He has been pushing redial and Jess has just informed me that her and Charlie have regular chats. (Don't even want to think about my phone bill for this month!)

Small Milestone #2  An awareness of other peoples feelings Sadie was giving me a bit of a hard time one evening and I was getting a little stressed out.  He came up behind me and patted my back, melted my heart away.

Small Milestone #3  Putting a new word into a sentence  "Mumma , you are beautiful" (no prompting from me by the way)

Small Milestone #4 Art skills gone up another level Charlie produced this piece of art work without any supervision from myself.  He has made use of the entire page, used different colors and various techniques from big circling motions to little dots.

 
Small milestone #5 Potty training Charlie has been doing really well in this department especially at daycare, so much so, they sent all his nappies home with him today. I am so proud of him.

....but I do wish he would leave my button tin alone....

And lastly, this was the last thing I saw before I left work this afternoon.  It made my day, I bet there isn't too many work places where you get to see this image on a Friday afternoon! Way to go Mary!

Lest we Forget

I took the children to the park this morning specially to visit the war memorial where flowers and wreaths had been laid for ANZAC Day.  Charlie was intrigued with all the red poppies which is a symbol of remembrance for those fallen.  Kasey looked for names on the memorial that he recognized. 

My thoughts were given to the mothers who watched their sons go off to war.......some who were never to see the sons again.

Those heroes that shed their blood
and lost their lives;
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side
here in this country of ours.
