Charlie and I had an adventure today to the Putangirua Pinnacles.
It's been a while since my last visit here, but it was just as awe inspiring and magnificent.
What a mile stone.
Charlie boy turned 10 years old this week.
He started off the day with gifts from the family and birthday pancakes which are a birthday tradition.
Then in the afternoon it was a pool party with his friends, more presents, pizza, lemonade, tennis and a meringue cake with fresh raspberries, fresh cherries, loads of cream and candy.
It has been said it was the best party ever!
Over the summer Charlie and Sadie participated in a community project called Claytown Greytown. The aim was to make a miniature version of the town Main Street out of clay. The project was run by our Village Art Shop with the help of local artists, Sam, Maggie and Janie.
Sadie and Charlie wanted to do our café Cuckoo,
On day two they sculptured people, animals and characters.
Day three, they painted their creations.
They then were displayed in the Village Town Centre as part of the Greytown Arts Festival.
Now that the arts festival is over they are currently displayed at the Village Art Shop until it's decided what to do with them next.......
I never intended climbing Castle Rock with the children. It did cross my mind that Charlie could possibly do it, but forgot the idea by putting it into the 'too hard basket'.
But that evening we watched 'Beyond the Edge', a wonderful movie documentary about Sir Edmond Hillary's climb up Mount Everest. That put the fire into Charlie's belly and so we did it!
I felt so proud of these two (and of myself actually) and they couldn't wait to get down the bottom so they could tell everyone about their conquest of Castle Rock.
Pictures taken with my phone, not my Canon.
New Years Day at Stonehenge Aotearoa.
I'm not one to make new year resolutions, but I am determined to take more photographs of the four of them together, more of Ian and the children and I will try get myself in there a bit more often too.
Our baby Charlie has turned 9 years old.
His current favourite animal is the Lynx which live in the snow (white cake) and whenever we have a day out, Charlie always says with heartfelt feelings "That was the best day ever!."
He celebrated it with his friends at our cafe ~ Cuckoo, with pizza, fizz, fresh fruit, jelly 'n' ice-cream and of course birthday cake. They then watched the Christmas parade and had loads of fun.
Happy Birthday dear Charlie. xxx
This is our story of growing up in New Zealand
